Chemical Imaging and Assaying Center

The mission of the METACyt Chemical Imaging and Assaying Center is to develop and assist in the development of new chemical agents targeted for all forms of microscopy and imaging. As a secondary goal, the Center will assist in synthesis of small molecules that can be used to develop new and/or important assaying methods. Examples of such chemical agents may include:

  • protein tagging devices
  • new imaging dyes
  • MRI-active ligands
  • heavy atom derivatives for x-ray spectroscopy
  • fluorophores for enzymes assays

Primary users for the Center services will include the IU School of Medicine; METACyt Nodes and Centers; collaborators, faculty, and students at IUB; and the IU system as a whole. The Imaging Center will develop a collaborative and reciprocal relationship with IU School of Medicine imaging centers.

The creating of new intellectual property and the development of new research techniques is a specific and important goal of this Center.
